Warranty registry

10 years, in writing, and transferable once

Coverage is issued automatically when your job is installed, tied to a certificate number that records the exact glass, hardware, and finish we put in your house.

Why a registry instead of a card in a drawer

Because the thing that fails a warranty claim eight years later is nobody knowing what was installed.

When we mark a job installed, the system mints a certificate that snapshots the specification: layout, glass thickness, clarity, coating, hardware finish, and dimensions. That snapshot is what a claim is judged against, so there is no argument later about what you bought.

You get the certificate as a PDF along with a care guide written for the products on your job. A buyer, an agent, or an inspector can confirm the certificate is active without seeing anything private about you.

Terms v1.0

What is covered

  • Workmanship and installation labor for 10 years from the install date.
  • Hardware, including hinges, clamps, handles, and rollers, for 10 years against failure in normal use.
  • Vinyl sweeps and seals replaced at no charge for the first year, then at parts cost.
  • Glass is covered by the manufacturer against defect in materials. Breakage from impact or building movement is not covered.
  • Protective coating performance for 7 years when the published care routine is followed.
  • One transfer to a new owner of the same address, recorded by Shield7.

What is excluded

  • Abrasive cleaners, ammonia, vinegar, or razor blades used on coated glass.
  • Adjustment, removal, or reinstallation by anyone other than Shield7.
  • Damage from impact, storm, structural settlement, or water intrusion behind the substrate.

The full legal text lives on the warranty terms page. This page is the plain language version of the same commitment.

Lifecycle

We check in five times over ten years

Not marketing email. Each one exists because something is worth checking at that point.

Day 30

Everything settled, seals seated, and nothing rubbing. The easiest window to fix a minor adjustment.

Month 6

Hard water is starting to show if the care routine slipped. This is when a habit change still saves the glass.

Year 1

Sweeps and seals are covered free through year one, so this is the reminder to replace one that stopped touching.

Year 3

Hardware check. Hinges that have loosened are trivial to adjust now and expensive to ignore.

Expiry minus 90 days

Your last window to use coverage, stated clearly rather than left to lapse quietly.

Transfer

Selling the house

Coverage transfers one time to a new owner at the same address, which is a genuine line item at closing rather than a talking point. You start it from your portal, we record the change, and the certificate is reissued in the new owner name with the original install date and expiry intact.

Questions

About coverage

No. Coverage is issued the day your job is marked installed, and the certificate arrives by email with your exact specification on it. There is no card to mail and no form to remember.
